A.I.MAN., Associazione Italiana di Manutenzione, was established on 20 October 1959 for scientific and cultural purposes. The Association was born thanks to the will of a group of people led by Eng. Carlo Enrico Oliva, who presented this new reality thus: “An Association that brings together many technicians can only be an advantage for the latter, for their specialized profession and for companies that will be able to get many more ideas in the increased collaboration of their technicians”. Since the beginning, A.I.MAN. has developed and consolidated the values and contents of the Maintenance Discipline by operating as a national reference and leading player in the European context.
From the very beginning, the Association created its Official magazine, whose first name was Impianti Manutenzione e Trasporti. The goal has always been to encourage the development and dissemination of the maintenance culture in Italy. Today the magazine has over 50 years of history: in 1988, the Board of Directors decided to switch to a new masthead, Manutenzione Tecnica & Management. This is because we realized the increasingly transversal development of maintenance. In 1966, on 27-28 May in Trieste, the A.I.MAN. organized the 1st National Congress on Maintenance, a regular event that still exists. In 1972 the E.F.N.M.S., European Federation of National Maintenance, and the A.I.MAN. has its signature on the first billboard, thanks to President Oliva, and from it became a real reference point at a European level.
In 1984 the A.I.MAN. organized the 7th European Maintenance Congress in Venice: over 500 participants, half of which are foreigners. For the Association, it was a moment of great success: the A.I.MAN. in fact, it is projected towards a global reality of maintenance culture with a view to the globalization of business and industrial cultures. Meetings were held in China, Brazil, the United States, Chile and Japan. In 1989 the UNI Commission on maintenance and the A.I.MAN was always among the promoters. UNI Commission on Maintenance was born in 1989, and the A.I.MAN. is among the promoters. In 2009 the Association celebrated its first 50 years, and in 2010, it organized Euromaintenance in Verona (12-14 May). In 2019 it celebrated its 60th year of establishment and organized a dedicated Congress, the XXVIII: the prestigious anniversary was held on October 2 during the second edition of SIMa – Italian Maintenance Summit, at the Lavazza Headquarters, in Turin. In October 2020, the Technical Maintenance & Management Magazine, House Organ of the Association, changed its Magazine to Manutenzione & Asset Management
